We had the ultrasound today! It was SO cool to see the baby! Baby Roberts finally looks like a baby. We saw the spine, hands, feet, head, and heartbeat. The baby was moving around a lot and the technician commented, "It's doing a lot of hip-hopping," with a smile. I asked, "Is that good?" and she replied, "I can't tell you that. You signed a release." It took me a second to realize she thought I said, "Is it a girl?" So I felt like a horrible person, and stumbled over telling her that I wasn't asking what the sex is, and knew I signed a release and wouldn't ask that question, and didn't care what we had, and re-asked my original question. She told me that yes, it's a good thing.
We were pretty bummed that we didn't get to hear the heartbeat. The waiting room was packed, and there were only two ultrasound machines, so we were rushed through the exam. She took the appropriate measurements, and she herself charted the heartbeat, but even though we asked several times, we didn't get to listen. It wasn't the experience I was hoping for, but with a healthy active baby, and a (so far) complication-free pregnancy, how can I complain?
We'll get the pics from the ultrasound soon and post them here so the grandmas can coo at the baby and get a good cry in. :)

Last night, James went out to meet a national friend, so I had the house to my self during prime TV time. So the first place I flipped was the Hallmark channel (if I had Lifetime, I'm sure that would have been first, but Hallmark's a good second). There was a movie on, Love Comes Softly, that had just started. I settled on the couch, propped my feet up, and relaxed. Early on, I realized it was a love story (duh) and the man was a believer. He sang Come Thou Fount, he prayed, he talked about God in a very real way, etc. The whole message of the movie was actually about love and about God. Pretty cool to watch on TV, and it even had that blond intern from Grey's Anatomy on it, I'm sure pre-fame.
Every other scene of the movie had me crying, or worse, bawling. James came home, right at the climax of the movie, when I had tears streaming down my face, and I was eating a plate full of chocolate cake, which I had made earlier that night because of a craving for chocolate. My hair was going every which way, my eyes were swollen, and I was practically hiccuping through my tears as I put another bite of chocolate cake in my mouth. I have never felt so pregnant.

mother's day
This morning, James brought me a note "he found lying around," along with a rose. It read:
Of course it made me cry. Wasn't that sweet of my "baby" to take time out to write me a note and leave me a rose?
To my mommy,
Right now, I'm inside your tummy, and you really can't see me. But I want you to know that I'm doing great! You are taking such great care of me that I'm going to grow up strong and healthy. I'll try my best not to be too big at birth, but who knows.I'm so happy that you're my mom. It makes me happy when I hear you laugh at daddy's silly jokes. Tell him I love him, and that I can't wait to laugh too. Well gotta go grow some more.
Love,
Your baby
P.S. Sorry if I make you sick sometimes. :(
