FAQ's

These are a few of the questions people ask me about having a baby over here. There's no such thing as a dumb question!*

Will you be having the baby in America?
Nope - we're going for a dual citizenship baby. :) Or at least until the child is 18 anyway. We'll have the baby right here. The hospital we are delivering at is state-of-the-art, and many doctors are trained in the West. And my ob-gyn is cool and wears a sari. :)

But what about your parents?
My mom is flying over (with a first class upgrade, I might add!) for almost 3 weeks in December, and then James' mom will be coming over for about 3 weeks or so in January. Then our dads and the rest of the family will see Baby Roberts when he/she is 6 months old. That is when we boogie back to Texas.

Many Indian women stay indoors during pregnancy - will you do the same?
No way! That would defeat the purpose of me being over here.

Do you have names picked out yet?
Yep - for a boy: Ethan James. For a girl: Hazel Elizabeth.

What do you do for maternity clothes?
I am a blessed woman! My mom, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law have clothed me well by sending me really cute maternity clothes in the mail. And several friends have given me some hand-me-down larger size kurtas for later in the pregnancy. And at the moment, I can still wear most of my pre-pregnancy kurtas, so I haven't had to resort to the Indian maternity jumper-suits.

*My former supervisors in Paris had a baby girl while there, and she told me they were actually asked, "Will the baby speak English?" So really, there is such a thing as a dumb question, but I'm pretty sure y'all are more intelligent than that. :)

Will you be able to bring the baby back to America with you? Or will you have to leave he/she there?

Kelley - yeah we're not looking forward to next June when we head off for the US and leave Baby Roberts behind. It's too bad the government can't issue something that would allow the baby to come with us. Maybe some sort of document, like a small booklet for identification with a US seal on it. And the booklet could be navy blue. Yeah, it's too bad.
;) Funny, I forgot about that less-than-brainy question!

O.K. At first, I didn't get that this was a joke! Not funny! You and James can stay, but that baby better be coming to the US next June!

Love you.
