it's a miracle!

We watched the video in class last Saturday. You know, the video. As Kelley warned me, it was very old and very American! Kinda strange, and I have to wonder what the Indians in class thought. I only watched the first of it, then I squeezed my eyes shut so I didn't accidentally glance up. I knew things were moving along smoothly when the midwife would say in her Midwestern accent, "Gouuuuhd. Gouhhhhhd." After awhile, I turned my head and just watched James' face as he reacted to the onscreen violence. He grimaced, he gasped, he made awful faces...and then out of nowhere he exclaimed, "It's a miracle!" My husband is so cute.

I didn't even watch the video (let alone give birth to the oft described "big baby" in the video) and I was still extremely tense afterwards. Luckily, the teachers had us sit in a circle after the movie to learn how to fold nappies! Nappies are British English for diapers. So we learned three different ways to fold cloth diapers, and were told to start potty training at about 5 months.

Yeah I said 5 months. Indian babies are potty wizards.

I came away unscathed, and my husband is thoroughly impressed with the birthing process, so I'd say it was pretty successful.

I'm so glad it wasn't traumatic.

So are you going to use nappies?

Yeah we're gonna give the nappies a good try. Who knows if we'll grow frustrated or impatient with them and give up, but we really like the idea! Especially the disposable liner part. :)

She did tell us to not use white nappies because they are hard to keep looking fresh. Same with diaper pails and training potty. I would think they would all be hard to keep looking fresh!

haha! Those "Gouuuhds" drove me crazy! haha! That video was so cool!! Although I think the videos are better for the husbands b/c they will actually (maybe) be seeing that view... us on the other hand won't be seeing that view... but now I have something to picture in my mind during labor...hmmm....

That's O.K., I didn't watch the film either. I watched your Dad and could tell by things being said in the film and by the men and the brave women in our class what was happening. No way was I watching that.
