Because I absolutely crave to hear other womens' birth stories right now, I am posing some questions that I hope you all answer! I'm very near my due date, so the more info, the better!
1. Were you early or late?
2. What do you think brought on your labor?
3. Did you try any of the "natural labor inducements"? (ie, walking up stairs, drinking castor oil)
4. For a week or a few days leading up to labor, did you have any signs that it was coming?
5. How long were you in labor for?
Feel free to post your birth story...you know I of all people could never think anyone was too wordy!

Josiah was 2 days early. On the evening of Aug 14th we went to get one of those wonderful foot massages (we were in Thailand) in hopes that it would help start labor. My water broke at 2:15AM on the 15th and my labor continued until Josiah was taken by c-section at 3:21PM. Unfortunately my body just wouldn't dilate enough to get him out.
The moral of the story being that James needs to start giving you LOTS of long foot massages!! : )
I'll let you know in 90 days or so (give or take a few) :)
James was 2 weeks late. My water never broke. The labor was only 9 hours from start to finish. I walked and all but nothing happened until he was ready. But it was a quick deliver compared to most for the first baby. Of course, he was the most wonderful baby of them all.
Stephen was also late by 2 weeks so, they induced him but he was also quick. I think he was only 4 hours from start to finish. Julie was only 2 hours.
All the thing you can do to start labor early never worked on me. When they are ready to come out there is no stopping them.
Love,
Judy
I think I just told you mine recently but...
I went for my 38 week appt and she hadn't dropped. The dr said Oh it will be 10 12 days more. Ok. That night I went for a long walk to house fellowship. Oh and while there Mandy made up a song telling baby caskey to come out. Now that I think of it...that is prob what did it. I mean who wouldn't want to come out and join in that fun.
Anyhow...the next night my water started leaking, contractions were 10 min apart. We went to the hospital and had a baby 12 hours later. The end.
I saw my Dr. for our 38 wk. appt and she said I didin't look like I was going to pop anytime soon. We scheduled a c-section for Micah's actual due-date because of my high-blood pressure. That's why she was so surprised to see me when I went in to labor 5 days early. She'd given us instructions to behave in a "marital" way. The day I went in to labor we walked A LOT around 2ish, and my first contraction was at 5 p.m. Was at the hospital at nine. Delivered at 5 a.m. I had cramped for about three days before I went into actual labor.
Talitha was late. I had br. hicks contractions when I taught aerobics, but never anything to put me in labor. I tried eating spicy foods, walking, did aerobics, jumped rope... I taught aerobics until the day before I gave birth - variety of classes and jumped rope during the classes the whole pregnancy and ab exercises. My doctor told me if jumping rope had not sent me to labor- nothing would and the baby would come when the baby was ready - and she didn't... so i was induced. We opted for the inducing before Christmas since we would not be able to travel over the holidays anyway and we thought why not spend it with a new baby instead of hanging out and waiting. We went to the hospital to be induced the night before she was born and when they hooked me up, they told me my contractions were 2 min. apart and wanted to know how long this was going on and how I was feeling. I felt NOTHING. They hooked me up to monitors and told Patrick if I was not in labor to go home and rest and they would induce me the next morning. After they started the meds to induce - we hung out watching the monitor go off the charts with contractions that I still could not feel. Then around 1 or 2 PM, I started finally feeling the contractions and they lasted pretty regularly for a few hours. The nurse came in to tell me I was at 7 and I thought this is not bad - I can keep this going with my second wind where I got the news I was at 7. Then my doctor came in shortly and said I was only at a tight 4 and it would be hours. He barely left the hospital to head home and they called him back to perform a c-section on me. So, Talitha was born on the 22nd of Dec.
With Karis - she was due on my birthday but the doctor said she wanted to take her early - who knows why - it could have been she thought I was too big, gained too much weight or that she thought the ultrasound was wrong. Who knows. :-) She decided to take her early and we told her the date we wanted her to be born - which is so not the thing to do here because they just make you sit in the hospital until they are ready for you to have the baby and then they will do the c-section with telling you maybe the day before. The date we chose was the 22nd of Jan. - pretty much since Talitha's b-day is the 22nd of Dec. and they would both be Monday babies. The doctors really did not want us to do this day because they say if you have a baby on a Monday, it will be a LONG week of business but if you have the baby at the end of the week or on a Friday - the weekend is in sight and it is good! We told them that was o.k. and we did not mind. So, it was funny trying to talk them into it. It was even funnier when they found out my due date because they did not want me having the baby ON my birthday because they said it would be too expensive on Patrick to have to buy gifts for me and the baby on the same day - HMMMMM... wonder if this is one of the reasons for the early delivery? :-) That gives him over a week in between buying gifts. :-) Ha Ha .
O.k. so i am sooo very wordy. :-) Have a great day and I can't wait to hear your birth story about Baby Hazel's birth!!!!
Love to you all!
halle was thirteen days early because i drank half a bottle of castor oil....then i walked two and a half miles. i was determined to get her out early so i would have time to adjust before the next school semester started. i had no signs of labor before i actually went into labor.
Your brother was 6 days late. I walked everywhere the day he was born and had decided it wasn't going to happen so we went to eat pizza and play cards at friends. I started noticing around 8:30 p.m. that my back kept hurting periodically and so I started paying attention to the intervals. The back pains were 10 minutes apart. We went home, didn't sleep, and went to the hospital the next morning around 5:00 a.m. He was born at 10:03 a.m.
You were technically due Oct. 17th but I kept telling everyone that you would be born on Oct. 19th. On the night of Oct. 18th, I went to bed, woke up at 4:30 a.m. having contractions. I timed them for 30 minutes. I woke your Dad and told him that my contractions were about 5 minutes apart. We took your brother to Gammy and Papaw's house and got to the hospital at 6:00 a.m. You were born at 7:21 a.m.on October 19th. I told them so!
Jeffrey was right on time and Georgia and Abby were both 10 days early. I think it was because they were both so big my body said, "Hey, we'd better get them out of here before they get stuck!" And my water broke with both Jeffrey and Abby, which was a little inconvenient since I was making meatballs with Jeffrey and in the parking garage at Wal-Mart with Abby when it happened. My favorite part of delivering Jeffrey was when they first handed him to me and I couldn't believe that he actually just popped out of my body. I kept saying over and over, "Oh my! Oh my!" With Georgia my first words upon seeing her were "She's grape flavored!" since she was so purple. And my first words when seeing Abby were, "Wilkommen in Deutschland!(welcome to Germany).
